CoolStar updates Electra iOS 11.0-11.1.2 jailbreak tool to beta 8-2 with bug fixes
It just yesterday that CoolStar\’s Electra jailbreak tool for iOS 11.0-11.1.2 got updated to beta 8, however some users reported bugs and making use of it C predominantly with Safari. Fortunately, Electra beta 8-2 launched on Friday using a treatment for these issues, among other things.
Just such as the LiberiOS jailbreak tool that got released last year, Electra utilizes Ian Beer\’s open-source tfp0 exploit. Furthermore, it does not install Cydia, as Saurik has yet to update it for iOS 11 devices.
Citing the official website, Electra beta 8-2 includes the next changes:
- Fixes complaints about WebKit (Safari/Chrome), receiving calls, and downloading App Store apps by deterioration surrounding the sandbox issue in those processes
- Known Bug: Apps requires longer to file for the very first time they’re launched after re-jailbreaking as a result of workaround for one more bug with un-sandboxing deteriorating on the first launch
Many have purportedly used Electra to jailbreak their iOS 11 device(s) without the issues, speculate always, we propose awaiting Saurik to update several of the community\’s core tools for iOS 11 before proceeding, for example Cydia and Mobile Substrate among others.
Electra currently will depend on an implementation of jailbreakd for installing tweaks, and Mobile Substrate for iOS 11 should really ditch jailbreakd instead of a more efficient and stable dyld-hooking mechanism.
It\’s unclear whether Electra will secure the updated Mobile Substrate if it gets released, so that we advise all novice jailbreakers to avoid use until we operate word from Saurik. It is possible to certainly ignore our advice and move forward with Electra anyway, but you are doing so at the own risk.
